The gifts we have inside
but do not give to the world
can create depression
or what feels like depression
There are multiple causes for this.
1. The inner genius in us that wants to give its gift is in grief over its unlived life. It is saying, "let me live," but no one is listening. Or you don't know how yet. You are not old enough, or don't have the life skills to pull it off.
2. You need the nourishment and stimulation that will come from letting this energy flow, becuase it is YOU. It's not supposed to be a separate part of you, a talent that comes out once in awhile - it is your essence, and a human being needs to be nourished, stimulated, informed by her essence.
3. You need to bathe in the return energy flow from the world, from other people, that will come from giving your gift. You are built to be in that flow of give and receive. You are built to live in the richness of that give and take, the relationships that will evove when you are giving your gifts to the world.
4. You are lonely for the people you have not met yet, but will meet in the process of giving your gift to the world.
One of the sacred functions of meditation is to be a place where we can meet with our unexpressed energies of life, these gifting places that have not yet been linked to our full outer expression, and build the requisite connections.
During meditation, these transformative inner processes may manifest as falling asleep, daydreaming, fantasizing, planning, rehearsing, and feeling wild with passion. This is why you want to build your meditation practice out of love, so that you develop the spaciousness to embrace all of who you are.
